RORO Vehicle Ocean Freight Cargo Insurance
Friendly Reminder - Ghanem offers Ocean Freight Insurance for RORO Vehicle Shipping. Accidents happen, we recommend cargo insurance to all shippers for all shipments. Cargo insurance is essential to ocean freight transportation and protects your goods from seawater flooding, storms and acts of God, vessel collision and other unforeseeable events such as the RORO vessel fire that happened in Jacksonville. It is available to purchase for most vehicles and containers being exported and, we recommend it for all cargo and vehicles.
Grimaldi ACL – 4/19 Port of Baltimore and Bridge Collapse Update
Please note, per ACL. “24th Day since the collapse of the Bridge. Of the estimated overall 50,000ts of bridge debris, it is estimated that 27,000ts of bridge debris is in the water, more than previously anticipated. A large capacity grabber is enroute from Texas, eta is April 22nd to assist with the recovery and salvage effort. The integrity of the vessel ‘Dali’ hull is confirmed, the vessel is secured by 4 anchors (non-vessel) and 1 tugboat.
-The plan for the restricted 35ft draft channel is still on target for 4-30-24, keel clearance is currently tba
-Following this, traffic will be very restricted due to draft restriction, and also because the prioritization of the vessels (inbound / outbound) is still unknown at this date.
We will keep you posted with the latest developments as we receive them from Authorities.”

Please note and advise your drivers accordingly per Sallaum Line. Philadelphia Auto Terminal has reached Non-Runner capacity and will not accept Non-Runners effective immediately. Please direct all Non-Runner Vehicles to Baltimore Tradepoint Terminal.

Please note, per Sallaum. “Sallaum is happy to report that all cleared cargo in Newark loaded over the weekend and Sallaum is working diligently on obtaining authorization from the NJ/NY Port Authority to re-open the doors and start receiving POV’s once again. In addition, Sallaum is also happy to report that the Silver Moon will call Tradepoint Baltimore on April 14th to load all cleared cargo and continue to keep the Tradepoint Terminal gates open for your POV deliveries.”

Ghanem would like to remind you to exercise due diligence when purchasing vehicles from auto auctions. It’s important to be aware that ports have strict policies in place - they do not accept Electric/Hybrid Vehicles for RORO (Roll-On/Roll-Off) or Container shipping. Unfortunately, there are currently no viable options for ocean freight shipping of Electric/Hybrid vehicles. Additionally, please note that some vehicle titles may not clearly display the Electric/Hybrid status. We recommend double-checking before booking to avoid any port rejections.

Please note update from ACL, “We can now confirm an ETA of April 15 in Newark for the GCT0624. The terminal is working on removing batteries from vehicles for all units ready to load on this vessel. Beginning tomorrow, April 3, units are no longer available for pick except those which have already been scheduled for.”
